Pelican Bay was built by Coral Ridge Properties, a Westinghouse division that later became WCI Communities, developed land purchased 1972; construction began 1978, more than 6,500 residences in about 95 neighborhoods on roughly 2,100 acres.

Amenities include two private beach clubs on white sand Gulf beaches, about 3 miles of raised boardwalks with tram service through the Clam Bay estuary, three Gulf front restaurants, two tennis facilities, and community fitness and wellness center.
The Club Pelican Bay, a private member owned club with 27 holes designed by Arthur Hills, opened 1980, played as three nine hole courses named Club, Pelican and Bay.
The community sits in along the Gulf in North Naples, just north of downtown Naples. Nearby you will find Waterside Shops, Clam Pass and the Clam Bay estuary.
